The Freedom Wing Adaptor is a box that connects to the Xbox Adaptive Controller, allowing wheelchairs to integrate with the controller. This is possible through the 9-pin port that allows the controller to connect with the joystick that guides power wheelchairs in everyday use. ATMakers, a tech enthusiast group that focuses on assistive tech developed the Freedom Wing Adapter in collaboration with charity AbleGamers. AbleGamers is providing the Freedom Wing Adapter for Xbox Adaptive Controller users now. People who need the addon can apply for a grant on the AbleGamers website. The organization says there are some specific instructions for people making applications: “To make sure that we can help you as fast as we can, please give us as much detailed information as possible. The better we understand your situation, the better we can assist you.”
