There’s a better way, and Google has just implemented it on the Pixel. Instead of just averaging your entire usage, the Pixel will look at your battery life on similar days. During the work week, for example, you probably use your phone a lot less. However, Google also goes further than that, drilling things down to specific timings. For example, if you listen to music on your commute, Google will remember that, and take it into consideration when estimating. Over time, it will get more accurate, and you’ll be able to make informed decisions about your phone habits. Of course, it’s still an estimate, so users shouldn’t expect miracles, but it’s a definite improvement.
Proactive Management
You can see the results yourself by heading to ‘Battery’ in settings. You can then click the battery icon to see a graph of your usage. You can see from the image below that it dips more at certain points of the day. The next step, according to a Google spokeswoman, is pre-emptive management tools. “We’re continually working on improving these estimates, and making the battery experience on Pixel great,” she said. “Now that we have these personalized estimates, we’re interested in exploring new ways of proactively helping you manage your battery to make it through the day.” You can find more information on the Google support website.
