Microsoft announced a brand new Xbox Elite Controller Series 2, replacing the older (already amazing) Xbox Elite pad. We have known this peripheral was coming since last year, and it comes with some interesting improvements. Here’s the thing, the OG Xbox Elite Controller is already a wonderful gamepad, so Microsoft has had to work hard to make those improvements. So, with the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2, the company has added tension joysticks, improved bumper grips, shorter hairlock triggers, rubberized grips, and trigger grips. Elsewhere, the pad sports an internal battery, Bluetooth, and can support three gaming profiles.

Finally, the Series 2 gets its own charging dock. All-in-all, Microsoft has crafted a beautiful accessory, but one that is also highly functional.

Customization

Customization was always a big part of the original model, and Microsoft has continued that for the Series 2. The company says it will bring more customization options, but did not expand on what exactly they will be.  “The all-new Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 features over 30 new ways to play like a pro, including adjustable-tension thumbsticks, new interchangeable components, up to 40 hours of rechargeable battery life, and limitless customization with the Xbox Accessories app on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.* *Battery life varies significantly with additional accessories, usage, and other factors. Testing conducted by Microsoft using preproduction units.”
