Microsoft has now officially unveiled the Microsoft Consulting Services team internally. According to ZDNet, the new business will be helmed by Corporate Vice President of Cross-Industry Solutions Omar Abbosh. Abbosh is a newcomer at Microsoft, having recently left as CEO of Accenture after 31 years with the company. He will now lead the new Consulting Services team, which will go live today (July 14). We now also know more about Microsoft’s wider plans for the sales tweaks. As we reported previously, Microsoft is also moving more workers into the Customer Success Unit. It turns out this will be integrated into the wider Customer Experience & Success (CE&S) business. This will continue to be led by Corporate Vice President Mala Anand.

Consulting Services

For Microsoft Consulting Services, the company is seeking a “One Commercial Strategy”. This was discussed in an internal memo penned by Worldwide Commercial Business Executive VP Judson Althoff: “Consulting at Microsoft has never been more important, as customer will continue to depend upon us to prime their digital transformation efforts and deliver horizontal and vertical solutions that meet their business needs,” Althoff told the troops. While Microsoft Consulting Services is a new division within Redmond, it is not an entirely new concept. It will be replacing the existing Microsoft Services division and will be refining the idea. While the current organizations has six technical domains, the new Consulting Services will have three:

Azure Cloud and AI (secure data, AI, and cloud infrastructure) Business Applications (Dynamics 365)

Modern Work (Microsoft 365)
