Fitch has been helping Microsoft one hardware for a few months. He lists the Surface Pro 5 as one of the products he is working on. On his LinkedIn profile, it shows that he has been working on the Analog Speech Design Team since June 2016. Since January 2017, Fitch has been creating speech models for “devices of the future including but not limited to: HoloLens, Surface Pro 5, Xbox.” According to the profile, Fitch has also been working on Microsoft’s Project Neon. As we have reported recently, Project Neon is the new Windows 10 design language. Surface Pro 5
This serves as further confirmation that Microsoft is working on a Surface Pro 5. It is no surprise that the company has waited to launch the updated hybrid. The Surface Pro 4 has been a huge success and is still selling well. Moreover, the device is still among the most potent tablet/laptop hybrids on the market. Microsoft has not needed to release a new model, but now there are more rivals coming to the market. Most new devices competing with the Surface Pro line now have Intel’s 7th generation Kaby Lake processors. Microsoft needs to keep pace with the market and a Surface Pro 5 will allow the company to do that. We reported early last year that Microsoft would wait until at least after the Creators Update to launch the device. That means we don’t expect to see the Surface Pro 5 until later in the year.
