The latest update for Groove Music on the Production Ring is version 10.17042.1411.0. Fluent Design is evident in elements within the build, which is available on Windows 10 PCs and Windows 10 Mobile. For example, a hint of transparency has been added to the sidebar and bottom areas within the app. With this small change, we can already see how Fluent Design will make Windows 10 and its native apps slicker and nicer to look at. If you into this update then you will also be able to create a playlist based on your favored genres and artists. Additionally, Groove Music can also support music videos directly in the app with this release.
Fluent Design
Kevin Gallo, VP for Windows Developer Platform says the company focused on creating a UI that help developers create more engaging apps. Microsoft wanted a design language that was layered, offered depth and animations, but still looked elegant and light. This means a return to translucency, which was part of older Windows builds, but has been missing from recent iterations. Once Build was finished, Microsoft added more details about the new UI. The company says the design will also help its plans for Windows 10 as a virtual reality platform. With this in mind, Fluent Design will scale between 2D and 3D versions of the platform. This is important and was a specific goal through the development of Project Neon. Microsoft says the Fall Creators Update will only be “wave 1” of Fluent Design System. The overall UI will continue to be developed over subsequent Windows 10 builds.
