During the conference, the company said the interface will be available for web, Finder on Macs, and Files Explorer on Windows. OneDrive sharing experience will be rolled out this summer. Jeff Teper, corporate vice president for OneDrive, SharePoint, and Office, says that users will be able to share files directly with others. This can be achieved by a right-click on the file, without entering the OneDrive app. The new “Share” option will also enable the modification of permissions within a file. Microsoft says the feature will be universal across all compatible platforms.

Also at the summit today, Microsoft offered some statistics regarding SharePoint usage. The company says the success of the platform has helped the growth of Office 365:
More than 250,000 organizations and over 85 percent of Fortune 500 companies now have SharePoint as part of Office 365. In the last year, usage of SharePoint has grown 90 percent, content stored has grown 300 percent and more than 10 million new SharePoint sites have been created. More than 60 percent of SharePoint seats are now online, reflecting the value customers see with SharePoint in Office 365.
Communication sites for SharePoint were introduced at the event. Users can create these sites in seconds and offer an efficient and easy-to-use experience. Starting this summer, customers will be able to leverage PowerApps for the creation of custom SharePoint forms. “A communication site is a beautiful, dynamic site that lets you reach a broad audience to keep the organization informed and engaged. Communication sites look great on the web, on a PC or Mac, on mobile browsers and in the SharePoint app.”
