One of those surprises may be the Surface Centaurus folding laptop device. However, there could also be an announcement regarding a vague Project S. Unfortunately, now a lot is known about this, but Microsoft watcher WalkingCat said on Twitter Microsoft is developing Project S and could introduce it at the Surface event. The reason for that speculation is because Project S looks to be part of Microsoft’s Surface division. Some observers suggested this could be Microsoft’s Santorini Windows 10 development. Santorini will reportedly be a flavor of the long-hinted Windows Core OS that adapts to a number of different device types. If you’re unfamiliar with Windows Core OS (WCOS), it is a modular version of Windows 10. By creating a modular Windows experience, Microsoft can put the full power of Windows 10 on any device. WCOS will provide Microsoft with a platform that will work on mobile devices and PCs alike. WalkingCat believes Project S is not related to Santorini: “Possibly. But IIRC Santorini is said to be the code name for new UI experience? while “Project S” looks to be a device, so, no idea,” the tweet reads. Microsoft has offered nothing official on Project S. Whether it is far enough along in development to be announced next month remains to be seen.
