If you’re unfamiliar with Microsoft Stream, it’s a video streaming service that is geared toward businesses and enterprise customers. Available in Office 365, the tool has been free to Microsoft 365 customers since launching in 2016. According to the company, this is a completely rebuilt Microsoft Stream for mobile users on iOS and Android. It is rolling out in beta today and will eventually be available as a full release. Microsoft points out the app has a new homepage and more streamlined access to SharePoint and Classic variants of Stream. Furthermore, the company says there is a “richer” experience when watching videos. Elsewhere, watching Microsoft Teams recordings is now more efficient in Steam, while marking videos as favorites and sharing them is also more seamless.

If you are interested in the new Stream mobile bets (iOS or Android) the opt-in instructions for the beta can be found here. Microsoft says the beta will graduate to general availability later this year but will roll out on a region-by-region basis. Interestingly the app does not seem to be finished. Microsoft says there is currently no video recording, uploading, or offline downloads. That is expected from a beta, but the company says these features will also be missing from the generally available release. Those essential tools will not come to Stream until 2023.
