Incremental updates have defined the iPad through its 8-year life. The most significant change was the introducing of the iPad Pro, with its beefy specs and sleek design. However, for the most part, even the Pro did not depart too much from the original iPad. Apple’s dedication to that original design may finally come to an end at tomorrow’s event. That’s because the company is expected to deliver a drastically different iPad experience....

It is believed the company will launch the chips at the conference to give developers time to work with them ahead of new Macs coming this fall. 9to5Mac reports developer Steve Troughton-Smith says there is evidence to suggest Apple is working on individual apps for Music, Podcasts, and maybe Books for macOS. The move coincides with the recently announced Apple TV service and the related TV app for Mac. People started speculating Apple would launch its other apps individually on MacOS and Troughton-Smith believes this is the case. It is worth noting this seems to be specifically for Mac at the moment and not for iOS devices like iPhone and iPad....

Researchers at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Purdue University call the Bluetooth bug “BLURtooth”. According to the team, the flaw (CVE-2020-15802) is high-severity and is found in the pairing technology for Bluetooth 4.0 and 5.0. Specifically, a problem in the Cross-Transport Key Derivation (CTKD) could give an attacker within wireless range access to communications on a victim device. This would include spying on communications and altering the link between devices....

Shortly after announcing Windows 11 last summer, Microsoft said third-party widgets would come to the OS. Although, the company also said that support would not come until a later date. Now with confirmation of support, Microsoft is giving developers the ability to build companion widgets for their PWA and Win32 applications. “We’re energized by the customer feedback on Widgets to date, people are enjoying the quick access to content most important to them in a way that is seamless without breaking their flow,” says Panos Panay, head of devices and Windows at Microsoft....

If you’re unfamiliar with token scanning, it is a feature announced around several years ago. It allows users to identify cryptographic secrets and revoke them before bad actors can exploit them. Last year, GitHub expanded the capabilities of token scanning to support more credential types. In a blog post, GitHub engineering manager Patrick Toomey said repositories are token scanned within minutes of going public. If a match to an encrypted SSH private key is found, GitHub informs the service provider with enough time for them to revoke tokens and notify the user....

Chris Peterson, Technical Program Manager for Mozilla found the technology that underpins Polymer is only available in Chrome. He took to twitter to explain this means Edge and Firefox run the video site slower: “YouTube page load is 5x slower in Firefox and Edge than in Chrome because YouTube’s Polymer redesign relies on the deprecated Shadow DOM v0 API only implemented in Chrome,” Peterson explained. “YouTube serves a Shadow DOM polyfill to Firefox and Edge that is, unsurprisingly, slower than Chrome’s native implementation....
