Microsoft has announced an update for the Paint 3D app. The release brings several important new abilities to the service. Arguably the most important is enhancements to the magic select tool. Additionally, Microsoft has added new Line and Curve capabilities and support for the GLB file standard. Paint 3D is a modernization of Microsoft’s classic Paint app. It is a 3D creation tool for Windows 10 that allows users to easily create and edit 3D models....

The fix is a part of Windows 11 preview build 22000.282, which also includes fixes for other problems, including users seeing the Windows 10 taskbar. So, Microsoft is handling some of the most notable Windows 11 bugs in one update. Of course, this is still a preview so it will not solve the issues immediately for users running non-Insider Windows installations. Still, the fixes should move swiftly through preview channels towards a wider release this week or next....

With the new change, users can add another plan to the group via the usual ‘create a plan’ menu. They’re then able to select ‘Add to an existing Office 365 group’. A list of groups will appear in a drop now menu for users to select. 1 Spreading the Fund2 First Investment In a blog post penned by Microsoft president Brad Smith and CFO Amy Hood, the company says the focus will be on the Puget Sound regions. Why? Because that’s where Microsoft’s first 30 employees lived in 1979. Aside from nostalgia, Puget Sound is among the communities around Seattle facing an affordable housing crisis. Microsoft says not enough homes have been built. Since 2011, jobs have increased 21 percent while new house builds have grown 13 percent....

There are a couple of things to note here. Firstly, this does not mean the console is going to be released soon. Microsoft has still not launched it, of course, and we expect a Holiday Season release still. Secondly, this is a placeholder and not an actual pre-order page. This means customers can pre-order Project Scorpio yet or see its price. You may remember that Microsoft has already published its placeholder on its store....

In its release notes, Microsoft points to a smaller size for the platform. Windows Server weight 4.05GB if you’re installing on a disk and 1.856GB through download. It’s predecessor, version 1909, weighed 4.97GB of disk and 2.257GB on download. It seems Microsoft is working on a downwards trend for size and it is worth remembering last year’s version 1903 weighed a meaty 5.1GB of disk and 2.311GB through download. Microsoft says this reduction is partly because the Server Core no longer uses ....

Specifically, users found Windows Update KB4559309 was causing system performance problems. Microsoft is now removing this update from the catalog. It’s worth noting this update has nothing to do with Microsoft Edge. Furthermore, removing it does not mean Microsoft is blocking the new Edge experience. The browser was delivered through several updates, KB4559309 was just one of them. Users found this update was killing their performance and was most noticeable upon system startup....

Users have been asking for a single portal to manage an organization from. Microsoft delivered that in May, when the Azure AD admin center moved to general availability. Since then, the center has been used by 800,000 users from 500,000 organizations around the world. Moving into the future with the admin center, Microsoft no longer needs to provide the classic experience in Azure portal. So, from November 30, the service will be retired....

After years of legal dispute, Microsoft finally won the case before an appeals court. The Justice Department was left with nothing but a call to the Supreme Court. The US Department of Justice wasn’t happy with this, and took it to the second court of appeals and an 8 judge panel. In January of this year, the court had a split vote, meaning the previous decision was upheld. Microsoft argues that the DoJ must request the data via an Irish warrant, while the DoJ believes Microsoft has a duty as a US company to hand over the information....

Here’s the thing with the Surface Phone, a device I have been dismissive about. It has been rumored for so long that it is almost mythical. Earlier this year, there was a flurry of leaks pointing to Microsoft working on a folding smartphone powered by its Andromeda OS. However, those leaks died when the company seemingly decided to make Andromeda something more unoriginal. The OS will instead be used in a laptop or PC device....

As more customers turn to Kubernetes for their container needs, Microsoft is looking to expand its support for the platforms. The company will make Kubernetes a core topic at Build 2022, with several sessions and announcements planned. One will be on Project Haven, which will support Kubernetes on Windows edge-computing devices. Microsoft has currently only confirmed a session on the subject and wider details are not yet available. All the company says is that Project Haven will help Windows edge devices get better-containerized workloads....

Among them is a fix for PCs affected by restart issues after Builds 18999 to 19002. Microsoft confirmed this problem earlier this month. Many users say when they select to shut down the PC, the machine is not really shutting down. Instead the screen goes black while the PC continues to run in the background....

Today we have some confirmation regarding which Windows 11 SKUs Microsoft will offer. This has come from Bluetooth SIG, which has listed Bluetooth certifications for Windows 11. Here are the SKUs we will be getting: Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Pro, Windows 11 Pro for Education, Windows 11 Pro for Workstations, Windows 11 Education, Windows 11 Enterprise, and Windows 11 Mixed Reality. While the specifics of each Windows 11 SKU are not yet known, it seems Microsoft is following the SKU output it did for Windows 10....

1 Exclusive Games2 Third-Party Titles Many have been hoping the company would announce a new Xbox One Elite Controller at Gamescom. Sadly, that did not happen, which is a shame. Instead, Microsoft used the event to discuss upcoming software. That’s both a good and bad thing. Firstly, it is good that the company announced some information on its upcoming first-party exclusives for Xbox One. However, like Sony’s PlayStation event, many of the games highlighted were cross platform....

Microsoft president and chief lawyer Brad Smith has admitted the company previous view of open source was incorrect. Now Redmond has open sourced many of its services, Smith says the company was on the “wrong side of history”. “Microsoft was on the wrong side of history when open source exploded at the beginning of the century, and I can say that about me personally,” Smith said in a talk about hot computing topics at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL)....

While Windows 11 will run through Parallels Desktop 17, it will only be the Windows on ARM variant that works. Users will also need to have a virtual hard disk file of a Windows Insider Preview build. Whether this will change when Windows 11 launches fully next month remains to be seen. This is likely to be the best it gets for running Windows 11 on Mac for the time being....

If you are unfamiliar with MS Celeb, it is a database that includes 10 million images. It was used as a training dataset for facial recognition software. Included in the database were over one million images of celebrities. As well as being an issue for hosting private individuals, MS Celeb has reportedly been used by tech giants to improve surveillance techniques. Companies such as IBM, Panasonic, and Chinese brands are said to have used the database for this purpose....

This separate event showed that the company is looking at developers and enterprise as well as consumers and home workers. We already seen the changes Microsoft has made to the Microsoft Store, including support for Android apps. Microsoft also touched on making the Store easier for developers. developers will now be able to submit unpackaged Win32 apps to the store, for example raw .exe builds. In a bold move clearly aimed at enticing developers, Microsoft says apps no longer need to be hosted on the Microsoft Store....
