Specifically, federal prosecutors in Brazil say the platform takes data without “express consent”. To rectify the situation, Microsoft would need to change the default installation for Windows 10. Currently, the platform gives “Automatic Approval” for Microsoft to collect data. Authorities also say within the default settings of Windows, the platform is set to collect browsing and search history. This includes contents of emails and user locations for targeted advertising. This whole issue stems back in the days of Windows 8, when Microsoft changed how DirectX 9 reported on available memory for gaming. Windows 11 was launched today and will launch later this year. Does the return to once-yearly feature updates means the concepts that underpinned Windows 10 are gone? Not quite. At the moment, this is showing up for the Business and Education versions of the store. Metasploit says the release is necessary as it serves as a “critical” resource for security researcher looking to defend against BlueKeep. “Democratic access to attacker capabilities, including exploits, is critical for defenders—particularly those who rely on open-source tooling to understand and effectively mitigate risk,” wrote Brent Cook, a senior manager at Rapid7. “One of the drivers in our releasing the exploit code today as a PR on Metasploit Framework is to enlist the help of the global developer and user community to test, verify, and extend reliability across target environments....

Since leaving Microsoft in 2002, Blackley has mostly stuck to gaming, but success has been limited. Despite his ties to the games industry, Seamus Blackley actually started as a specialist in high-energy physics. Indeed, he helped to create the physics engine for Flight Unlimited. So, in many ways, Blackley is returning to his roots. His Heat Engine research team has recently been acquired by augmented reality company Daqri. Blackley will head up a new R&D department with the company, along with his Heat Engine team....

What’s interesting about this update is that it brings a lot more new features compared to recent Xbox One Insider releases. Those previous updates have been focused on the Windows 10 Creators Update. Microsoft’s latest feature update is set to drop on April 11. Now the company is finalizing the platform for release. This has mean Insider builds have been arriving frequently, but with few new features. While the update discussed here is landing around the Creators Update release, it is not a part of it....

All those songs you bought standalone are just hosted on Google’s cloud and can be removed at any point to just use locally again. This is of particular help if you enjoy smaller artists or even podcasts that may not be listed. 9to5Google says this feature is in internal beta testing and previously found preparations in the YouTube Music app that suggest a rollout is close....

Google has decided to change both of those things in a bid to become a fully competitive service. The rebranded YouTube Music will launch on May 22, and will eventually become the company’s main streaming app. It will have a free version, as well as a $10 subscription for ad-free listening, background listening, and downloads. However, here’s where it gets interesting. For $12 users will get access to YouTube Red, Google’s Netflix-like service that also enables ad-free video playback....
