Widget notifications are one of the consumer-friendly new additions that were expected as part of Windows 11 22H2. However, Microsoft has updated the Windows Web Experience Pack early to include the feature. This is the section of the platform that powers Windows Widgets. It now allows the taskbar to highlight notifications from widgets. Moreover, the new update means the taskbar is more powerful and able to highlight more relevant live information. It already details the weather forecast, but will now also surface notifications from sports, news, finance, and other widgets. The weather widget will remain the main display but will swap sporadically to other widgets.
Arriving Now
Microsoft says it is rolling out the update for the Windows Web Experiences Pack in stages. That means you may need to wait a few days or even weeks to get it. Alternatively, it could drop in your Windows Update tomorrow. While Microsoft has launched one widget feature earlier than expected, Windows 11 22H2 may still have some good news for widget fans. At Build 2022, Microsoft confirmed Windows 11 will soon be able to support third-party widgets. According to the company, the feature will be available “later this year,” meaning Windows 11 22H2 is likely to have this ability. Tip of the day: Need to create an ad-hoc network from your PC?
